S. Korea to conduct new gunnery exercises
The South Korean military says it will conduct a new round of military drills in 27 sites around the country.
The new round, will begin Monday and last until Friday. The DPRK in response says its army and people are ready for escalated conflicts and all-out war.
South Korea has released a navigation warning, saying all civilian vessels must keep a sharp lookout and avoid the 27 areas designated for the drills.
A military official says that the drills running through December 17th are routine. Islands near South Korea's disputed maritime border with the DPRK off its west coast are not included in the exercises. These islands were the scene of an exchange of artillery fire last month.
The DPRK'S News agency, KCNA, reported a statement from the National Peace Committee of Korea released Saturday, saying the US was fully committed with South Korea, to provoke a war on the peninsula.
The spokesman warned against further provocation, saying its army and people are ready for escalated conflicts and all-out war.
