Sindh govt. issues guidelines for programmes on World Environment Day
Karachi, In order to create awareness among masses on World Environment Day, Sindh government has issued guidelines regarding different programmes which will be organized in this connection.
At the meeting held to issue guidelines on Monday, Minister for Environment and Alternate Energy Shaikh Mohammad Afzal while addressing town administrators and representatives, emphasized that it is the first such instance when the World Environment Day is being observed at this level by providing guidelines and help in organizing different environment friendly programmes. The minister said the guidelines will be sent to all towns and districts in Sindh and added that guidelines are not restricted to town level but can be benefited at every level. A decision to submit guidelines to the Department of Environment Protection by May 28 was also taken. Afzal also said a control room for consultation will be setup in the Department of Environment Protection to observe the event. It was also decided that on World Environment Day, every town should organize Sanitation and Plantation drive, besides debate contests, cricket tournaments, etc. The World Environment Day is observed on June 5 every year, and its main objective is to create awareness regarding environmental protection. The meeting was attended by, Secretary Environment and Alternate Energy Mir Hussain Ali, DG EPA Government of Sindh, Naeem Ahmed Mughal, Director Technical Waqar Phulpoto, EDO Municipal Services Masood Alam Rizvi and Deputy Director EPA Sindh Mujtaba Baig.
