Sindh Governor says missing containers were found from other provinces

Karachi : Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan said on Wednesday that the federal ministry of ports & shipping has no concern with missing containers, as it s assigned with loading and unloading of containers inside the port area from where nothing could go out without approval of Central Board of Revenue.

All those containers reported to be missing were recovered from other provinces and the investigation is already underway, he told the participants of 13th National Security Workshop of National Defense University who called on him at Governor s House here.

Supreme Court of Pakistan has also taken notice of missing containers, he said responding the queries about press reports on the issue.

He added that there were different agencies functioning inside the port while the Ministry of Ports & Shipping hands over the containers to CBR after unloading them. Ministry is not responsible once the containers are sent out of the port.

To another question, Governor Ibad said the accused involved in kidnappings in Karachi were often arrested or dealing for ransom money was made in frontier areas. Such crimes and the modus operandi show how the criminals have laid the crime network.
