Egypts Former First Lady Relinquishes Assets to State
Egypt's former first lady has handed over her assets to the state days after anti-corruption authorities ordered her detention.
Suzanne Mubarak, wife of ousted President Hosni Mubarak, handed over more than $3 milllion Monday.
Some estimates put the Mubarak family holdings in the tens of billions of dollars.
Authorities had questioned Mubarak and ordered her detention for 15 days to investigate charges she abused her husband's influence for unlawful personal gain. Her husband has also been questioned.
The 70-year-old former first lady was under arrest, along with her husband, in a hospital in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
Mr. Mubarak was ousted by a popular uprising in February after ruling Egypt for more 30 years.
