PM goes to Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan for political campaigning

BANGKOK, May 17 -- Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Tuesday morning went to Phitsanulok and Nakhon Sawan to help Democrat Party candidates with their political campaigns after he recovered from a bout of flu that forced him to cancel party activities since Saturday.

Mr Abhisit and the Democrat Party's key northern region leaders, including party deputy leader Chaiwuti Bannawat, Paitoon Kaewthong, and Siriwan Praschaksatru, flew to the lower northern province of Phitsanulok to meet villagers and farmers at Noen Maprang district before travelling to Nakhon Sawan's Takhli district to help his party candidates campaign.

The premier told reporters briefly before departing for Phitsanulok that the Election Commission (EC) had invited political party leaders to discuss campaign budget spending limits on Wednesday and that he had assigned Education Minister Jurin to represent the Democrats at the meeting.

It was expected that financial discussion would focus on the plan to adjust the Bt1.5 million spending limit for each candidate rule applied since the last general election to Bt2 million per candidate. (MCOT online news)
