Wayang coming to Miss Universe pageant

JAKARTA: Miss Indonesia 2010 Nadine Alexandra Dewi Ames says she is ready for the Miss Universe competition in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

She will depart on Saturday for Brazil, where the 87 other contestants will be gathering. The finale of the pageant will be on Sunday, Sept. 12.

Nadine is planning a wayang golek theme for the pageant, as reported by kapanlagi.com. She said she was inspired by the work of Guruh Soekarnoputra, former president Sukarnos son, and the Solo Batik Carnival is providing garments with a Queen of the South Seas theme.

Miss Indonesia will don an evening gown designed by Barli Asmara for the grand finale and the pageants red carpet. For the auction that usually accompanies the event, Nadine will bring a wayang golek of Shinta, which will be auctioned starting at US$300.
