2/3rd Pakistanis indifferent on appointment of new Governor Punjab

Islamabad: Almost two third of all Pakistanis (62%) are indifferent on the appointment of the new Governor of Punjab, followed by 23% who appreciate this decision and 14% who are critical of it, said the findings of a survey conducted by Gilani Research Foundation-Gallup Pakistan.

In the survey, a nationally representative sample of men and women from across the country were asked the following question: oRecently after the death of Governor of Punjab Salman Taseer, Latif Khosa has been appointed as the new Governor. What are your sentiments on hearing this news? Sixty two percent (62%) said that the appointment of the new Governor of Punjab made no difference to them, 23% were pleased with this news and 14% were critical of it. 1% gave no response. A detailed analysis of the data showed that relatively more urbanites (22%) were critical of this news as compared to their rural counterparts (10%). The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2738 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during January 2011. Error margin is estimated to be approximately + 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
