An Upcoming Bali Port

Indonesias state-owned port company Pelindo III will develop Bali provincial port of Benoa to cope with international standard, a top executive said here on Monday.

Jarwo Suryanto, president director of Pelindo III, told a parliamentary hearing that in 2010, as many as 53 foreign cruise liners arrived in Bali where half of them entered through Benoa port.

Thats why, we want to develop the port by renovate its terminal to cope with international standard, Suryanto said.

Besides, he said, it needs a synergy between state-owned enterprises to support the goal.

We will cooperate with toll road operator of Jasa Marga and airport operator of Angkasa Pura, among others, to build access to provincial capital citiy of Denpasar and Nusa Dua, one of tourism destination, said Suryanto. Suryanto also unveiled the companys financial performance in 2010. During last year, we booked declining net profit of 514 billion rupiah (about 56.78 million U.S. dollars) from 527 billion rupiah (about 58.21 million dollars), he said, without elaborating the cause of decreasing net profit.

However, he said, the companys income increased to 2.76 trillion rupiah (about 304.9 million) in 2010 from 2.50 trillion rupiah (about 276.18 million dollars), respectively.
