Kashif stuns Mahad to enter tennis tourney final

Karachi: Third seed Kashif Khan stunned second seed Mahad Javed to secure his place in the final of National Bank Sindh Ranking Squash Championship on Sunday here at Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex.

Kashif took only 25 minutes to dispatch Mahad Javed and recorded a convincing 11-5, 11-8, 11-6 win in the semifinal match. In final, Kashif would face fourth seed Mohammad Naeem, who thrashed fifth seed Jahangir Khan (Jr), registering a 11-4, 11-6, 11-8 win in 24 minutes. Madina Zafar, seeded third in womens singles event, pulled a sensational upset, when she defeated favourite Zahab Kamal Khan in the semifinal by 11-4, 8-11, 11-8, 12-10 score. Meanwhile, second seed Faiza Zafar zapped fourth seed Ayesha Zafar recording a 11-3, 11-8, 11-9 triumph in only 16 minutes to confirm her presence in the events final. In boys U-13 event, top seed Faizan Khan recovered from 1/2 down to eventually record a 8-11, 13-11, 9-11, 11-3, 11-5 triumph in 56 minutes the longest match of the day. Unseeded Hammas A. Tarar stunned second seed Danish Waheed, registering a formidable 11-6, 11-2, 11-4 win in only 16 minutes to secure his unexpected berth in the events final.
