KP government to adopt curriculum in 30 mother tongues

Peshawar : The Khyber Pukhtunkhwa government has constituted a special committee comprising experts of other languages to prepare syllabus 30 different languages being spoken in the province while curriculum in Pushto has already been implemented in different districts of the province, said Minister for Information and Culture, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, whiled addressing a function on Mother Tongues day at Press club on Monday. No nation could progress until their child will not get education in their mother tongue.

The developed countries like China, France and others have achieved their present status due to adoption of mother tongue as their medium of education, Mian Iftikhar said adding that their government want to promote the mother tongues therefore soon the saylabus in all mother tongues will be implemented to improve standard of education. He said Pukhtunkhwa was the beautiful banquet of various mother tongues adding that all these tongues were equally respectable for them adding due representation will be given to all these tongues according to their status. He said that it was need of the hour to provide equal opportunities of promotion to the tongues and cultures of all regional areas which he added, will pave way for national unity and solidarity. On this occasion intellectuals of various mother tongues and literary personalities from all over the province attended the function and presented their papers and poems. The Minister Information said that language was identity of a nation and without the identity, the nation loses its authority and for this very purpose, they were intentionally kept without identity for 63 years.

He said the present provincial government was striving hard for promotion of all regional languages and cultures. He said that inclusion of all mother tongues in syllabus and declaring them compulsory from Class-I to 2nd year was a revolutionary step of the govern! ment. Th e Minister Culture also announced that a conference with regard to mothers tongues will be held soon at Peshawar wherein writers and intellectuals of all regional languages of the province will be invited and proposals for promotion of regional languages and cultures will be sought from them. The Minister said that Pashto was a complete language wherein education of medical and engineering could be attained.
