Secy. Petroleum meets CM Balochistan
Islamabad: The Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources Mr Imtaiz Kazi, on Saturday met Mr Nawab M. Aslam Raisani, Chief Minster, Balochistan in Quetta and highlighted the security issues concerning oil and gas industry in Balochistan.
He was accompanied by senior officials of the industry including Managing Directors of OGDCL, PPL, SSGCL and Director General (Petroleum Concessions). Earlier the delegation met Chief Secretary Balochistan in a formal meeting attended by IG, Home Secretary, IG FC and senior officers of Balochistan Government and heads of relevant security agencies. Mr Kazi highlighted the oil and gas potential in Balochistan indicating about the great prospects of new discoveries in 10 districts of the province. The reservoir size of the 15 fields in these districts is yet to be ascertained by way of technical surveys and data gathering exercises. Such reconnaissance trips by technical experts require special security considerations for success of these missions. The Secretary also flagged on-going trend of targeting the personnel of various exploration companies engaged in drilling activities in Balochistan Province. Pipeline security is another concern, which hampers national economy with every blow in transmission line, he added.
