Joint action committee of PIA cries for increase in salary
Islamabad:Joint Action Committee of PIA Employees (JACPIAE) has demanded raise in salaries of PIA employees what they said it had become difficult for them to meet both ends The representatives of Joint Action Committee of PIA Employees (JACPIAE) gathered here in order to discuss the long-awaited issues of PIA employees and find out the solution, says a press release issued here Friday.
It said that prices of all commodities have soared during the last couple of years and according to the safe estimation, inflation has escalated more than 90 percent and the price of petroleum has increased by more than 8 percent, JACPIAE spokesman shared the statistics. JACPIAE demanded unanimously to the PIA management to raise the salaries of the employees as there has been yearly salary increase in every government organization, especially the last year's 50percent increment in government employees has created remarkable disparity between the salaries of PIA employees and other government organizations employees. JACPIAE spokesman said that the PIA employees have always been loyal to the national carrier and sacrificed whenever the trying circumstances surrounded the airline.
The employees and unions have also extended full support to the incumbent PIA management for pulling out the airline from financial crisis and suggested practical solutions for the problems confronting PIA, he added. "It is high time, the PIA management shows the fulfillment of its commitment by raising the employees' salaries up-to that extent, matching the high-inflationary trend, as it was promised by the management to raise the salaries of PIA employees who are going through severe financial crisis due to substantially less salaries and barely running their household expenses", he said. He informed with dismay that some unscrupulous elements have again engaged themselves to revive the pathetic PIA-Turkish Airline agreement for stri! king sev ere blow to the national carrier. The PIA employees will take stern measures than ever before if the PIA management shows any sympathy with these miscreants and the consequences will be far worst than what happened to the last management, JACPIAE spokesman warned.
