Motorway Police recovers stolen car
Islamabad: National Highways & Motorway Police has recovered a stolen car after exchange of firing with car lifters near Burhan on Motorway (M-1).
As per details, the Motorway Police was informed by the Islamabad Police at 0750 hrs that a black colour Corolla Car No. ICT JA-624, model 2005 has been stolen from the area of Shalimar police station, Islamabad and requested the NH&MP for the recovery of the same. On receiving of this information, the Motorway Police alerted all its patrolling vehicles and officers on Motorways and Highways. The officers of Motorway Police SPO Waqar Ahmed and PO Muhammad Sajjad observed the said corolla car on Motorway (M-1) in area of Burhan. The officers of Motorway Police singled to stop the car but instead of stopping it, the car lifters started firing on NH&MP officers. Due to over speeding they failed to control the car it turned turtled in to the verge. The cross firing between car lifters and NH&MP officers remained for some time. In the meantime, the culprits succeeded to run from the scene by taking the advantage of firing. However, the stolen car was recovered. Later on, the Motorway Police handed over the recovered car to Islamabad Police in the presence of the owner for further legal action. The owner of the car Miss. Musarrat Shaheen appreciated the bravery and commando action of the Motorway Police. The Inspector General, National Highways & Motorway Police Mr. Zafarullah Khan has appreciated the performance of the officers and announced cash rewards and commendation certificates for them.
