NHMP eyes target of zero pc accident ratio
ISLAMABAD: Inspector General, National Highways & Motorway Police, Zafarullah Khan has stressed upon the officers that this year we are targeted to decrease the accident rate upto 20% adding that zero accident policy within department be ensured.
While addressing to police Darbar held here at Chackri, on motorway he said that as most of the accidents on Motorways occur due to drowsiness of drivers, and of tyre burst, therefore, all possible measures be taken to cater this problem. IG stressed upon the officers of Motorway Police to behave with the commuters with great respect and courtesy adding that rule of law be ensured in all respects and no discrimination is made because of any rank or respect. He said that every road user must be given equal respect while dealings on Motorways and on Highways. He said that motorway police is a corruption free department, therefore, this title must be saved in all respects. He said that challan is not our priority but respect and help of road users in essential.
While speaking to the police officers, he said that the success of the Motorway Police is based upon the team work and collective wisdom. These doctrines are being followed in the successful institutions of the world and those institutions which do not follow can not be successful. He said that NH&MP is the pioneer to introduce a culture of soft policing and the culture of Community Policing in the country which helped to close the gap between the general public and police. He warned all the officers that no complaint of misbehaver or high-handedness would be tolerated in any condition. He stressed upon the officers to take great care of the road users in distress, as the provision of help, their counseling and guidance to the road users is the hallmark of Motorway Police and we must sustain this credibility. The IG announced that in future the children of Shaheed and retired officers of ! NH&M P would be given priority after test clearance but with strict merit policy. He further said that Safarish culture has weakened the institutions, therefore, no safarish culture would be accepted. He also listened the problems of the officers and ordered necessary directions for their redressal.
