Water increases in national reservoirs by 4000 cusecs
ISLAMABAD: Filling of national water reservoirs has mounted by 4,000 cusecs as more water continues to flow into Tarbela and Mangla dams, on Wednesday.
According to Indus River System Authority (IRSA) officials, after the arrival of an additional 4,000 cusecs, the release of water from Tarbela Dam has been increased by 5,000 cusecs for additional production of hydral power. Tarbela Dams water level has gone up by 1,397.72 feet which is 18.72 feet more from the dead level, while the usable water reservoir has increased to 2,38,000 acre feet. A total of 1,568 megawatts of hydral power is being generated currently by nine units of Tarbela Dam; the arrival of water is 43,400 cusecs while the release is 45,000 cusecs. Water arrival in Mangla Dam has also increased by 4,000 cusecs. Its water level has touched 1,118 feet which is 78 feet above the dead level, while the usable water reservoir has increased to 1,034,000 acre feet. The current arrival of water in Mangla Dam is 67,203 cusecs while the release is 50,000 cusecs. Ends-PPI
